Farmers and landowners are proud that our predecessors shaped our landscape, making it productive and at the same time beautiful. We enjoy continuing to shape that landscape, welcoming advice but above all bringing our own ideas to it. It's our job to know what can best be done with each part of our own land today: farm businesses continually adapt like any other business to live on the profits they can make. At the same time we are also uniquely able to deliver public environmental benefits looking after the environment and landscape, when these are supported by agri-environment payments, grants and advice.
The South Downs Land Management Group aims to help make the National Park a positive environment for the land managers to succeed in their business and to continue to look after the South Downs. It will work directly with all other interested organizations to achieve its aims. Some of its members also participate in the important advisory body, the South Downs Forum.
To help ensure the best possible National Park for all concerned, members can through SDLMG attend meetings and participate in consultations and educational or other activities organised by SDNPA. SDLMG Executive Committee members and officers do so regularly.
